After almost two years of dedicated effort, we are thrilled to celebrate DrShae Marie Wissell along with her co-authors Jude Dunc Hudson, Dr Rebecca Flower, and Bill Goh on the release of their latest paper titled ‘I hate calling it a disability’: Exploring how labels impact adults with dyslexia through an intersectional lens. This marks the fourth publication stemming from Shae’s research, offering a groundbreaking examination of the various labels and their effects on Australian working dyslexics and #employers.
The paper highlights the cultural shift we are witnessing with terms like #neurodivergence and #superpowers, which can inadvertently marginalise individuals with #dyslexia. We hope this paper sparks critical discussions and reflections on what it truly means to be an adult living with dyslexia, the most prevalent neurodivergent condition in our community.
A heartfelt thank you to Judith Hudson, Rebecca Flower, and William Goh for bringing this vital research to fruition. You can access the paper here https://journals.sagepub.com/…/10.1177/27546330241308540
